SeniorSelect® Certified Products Evaluation Methods:
There are two ways to get your product evaluated and SeniorSelect® Certified.
1) Internal Evaluation Option by the Senior Select Seal Internal Review Council (IRC)
The Senior Select Seal Internal Review Council (IRC) is an authoritative body of a renowned panel of professionals in the field of aging plus a robust community of senior adults as “expert consumers”.
2) Independent Testing by Georgia Tech Research Institute’
The Georgia Tech Research Institute is a highly-regarded applied research and development organization. Each day, GTRI’s science and engineering expertise is used to solve some of the toughest problems facing government and industry across the nation and around the globe.
GTRI redefines innovation by tackling customers’ most complex challenges with the right mix of expertise, creativity and practicality. Their expert scientists and engineers turn ideas into workable solutions and then put those solutions into action. GTRI has 76 active US Letters Patents, 43 pending US patent applications and 15 pending provisional applications in the United States. GTRI has been a trusted government and industry partner since 1934.
Products applying for the SeniorSelect Seal go through GTRI’s HomeLab testing process. Georgia Tech’s HomeLab consists of a network of 550 homes distributed throughout the State of Georgia, plus the associated infrastructure needed to administer, manage, design, and execute small- and large-scale usability, effectiveness, and efficacy studies. Participants represent a diverse cross section of older adults and represent both urban and suburban consumers. Participants in HomeLab go through a detailed induction process where information about the participants and their homes is gathered so that participants can be matched to prospective studies. HomeLab is staffed by a diverse roster of experts including those with expertise in human factors, experimental design, behavioral psychology, industrial design, data analysis, engineering, and project management.
Certification Process
Product(s) go through either (a) independent testing at Georgia Tech Research Institute, a 60-90 day process, or (b) internal evaluation by the Senior Select Seal Internal Review Council (IRC), a 30-60 day process.
A comprehensive product analysis is provided to the company.
If the product receives a favorable review, it will be awarded the SeniorSelect Seal of Assurance by Senior Select Solutions, and has the right to carry the seal on its products and packaging.
